Getting Outside

If you don’t get outside every day, even for a minute, you have not appreciated what God had done. It makes you grateful for our surroundings, and it starts your day differently. — Johnny Cash

Lovely! I totally agree with this quote, especially now that we’re used to staying squeezed between four walls, clicking our keyboards, and missing several sunsets.

Once in a while, it’s a good idea to step out. It makes us feel alive again even though we’re drifting farther from our surroundings. You can do it … you can easily spare a few minutes (and that too quite safely).

Pluck a flower.

Take a stroll.

Find shapes in clouds.

Sit under a tree.

Gaze at the stars.

Or sit with a cup of tea in your balcony …

Once you’ve appreciated the universe and felt one with your surroundings, even if for a few minutes, you can return to your enclosed sanctuary with a better feeling heart.

It’s worth it to mindfully appreciate the world and its magnificence. Doing so opens up the heart in many, many ways.
